Primera LX400 Labels

The Primera LX400 is a compact 4-inch desktop colour label printer, the predecessor of the LX500. It takes rolls on a 2" core up to 5" across and media from 1" to 4.25" wide. Every roll below is wound on a 2" core to a 4" roll, which fits comfortably.

Roll fit

Same rolls as the LX500

The LX400 and LX500 share the 2" core and 4.25" maximum width, so any roll on our LX500 page works here too. Our 3" core rolls are for larger Primera models like the LX610.

Ink and finish

One cartridge, three colours

  • The LX400 prints from a single tri-colour (CMY) cartridge; black is built from all three colours.
  • Matte paper: the go-to for ingredient panels, barcodes and dry goods.
  • Gloss paper: richer colour and shine for retail shelves and gift packaging.
  • BOPP (matte or gloss): choose it for fridges, oils, condensation and anything that gets handled. Dye ink is less water resistant than pigment, so run a test roll before a wet or chilled job.

Every size comes in matte paper, gloss paper, matte BOPP and gloss BOPP unless noted. Continuous rolls are 100 ft (90 ft for matte BOPP). Sizes listed here are the ones that match the printer's published media specs.

LX400 supplies

LX400 cartridges come from Primera; we do not stock them. If you are replacing the printer, the LX500 and the Epson CW-C4000 run the same 2" core roll format.

LX400 label questions

Do LX500 rolls fit the LX400?

Yes. Both take a 2" core and media up to 4.25" wide.

Why does black look slightly brown?

The LX400 builds black from cyan, magenta and yellow. Matte paper gives the most neutral black.

Die-cut or continuous?

Die-cut gives you clean, consistent shapes and gaps for production runs. Continuous lets you print any length, which suits shops labelling many different products.

Can you make a size that is not listed?

Yes. We convert rolls in-house in Mississauga, so custom widths, lengths and materials on a 2" core are available. Send us your size.
